Make transparent header responsive to the colour of the image underneath

When the transparent header is enabled, it stays white regardless of the colour of the image underneath. So if I have a lighter banner, the header menu is not visible without adding a transparent overlay, which ruins my image.
Is there a way to make the header responsive to the colour of the image underneath, so that it will change to white or black? This is a problem on all pages with transparent header including product.
